Bhindi Bhaji - India Sanctuary Recipe
Bhindi Bhaji is a popular and delicious Indian recipe loved by many. This dish is rich with exceptional textures and flavor that can be served as a side dish with lunch or dinner alongside another Indian main dish.
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb Okra (Bhindi), washed and chopped
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves (cilantro)
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1-2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
Directions
- Wash okra in water and dry it. Remove head and chop into pieces.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium/high heat
- Add in cumin seeds and fry until they begin to crackle, add minced garlic. Saute for 30 seconds
- Add chopped okra and mix well
- Cook on medium-low flame until okra turns dark green. It will take about 6-8 minutes. Stir in between occasionally
- Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder and salt. Cook for about 2 minutes or until tomatoes are tender
- Add in red chili powder, garam masala powder and coriander powder
- Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes
- Transfer prepared Bhindi Bhaji to a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves
- Eat with roti, chapati naan, or paratha and enjoy!
